Only a paucity of large-scale perspective and cross-sectional studies on H. pylori infection in China have been published. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and risk factors for H. pylor...

In most cases, extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (ENMZL) is an indolent disease. Bone marrow involvement is common with MALT lymphoma accompanied by paraproteinemia; such involvement impels disease progression. Here, we present the case of an 82-year-old Hispanic patient with long-standing ENMZL in whom the gastric site...

Rationale: Dieulafoy lesion (DL), a rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding, is easily covered by blood scab formation on the mucous membrane for its small size, which makes it difficult to be identified under endoscope. In clinical practice, it is also very easy to miss gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma that exhibits atypical early manifestations under gastroendoscope and is difficult to be diagnosed by routine superficial biopsy. Most patients only experience nonspecific dyspepsia symptoms. Patient concerns: A 68-year-old man suffering from repeated melena for 6 years arrived at our hospital....

10 ‐day amoxicillin–clarithromycin‐containing bismuth quadruple therapy may be recommended for the primary empirical treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection in China. The 14‐day therapy is expensive, uncomfortable for the patients, and has an increased risk of side effects. The 10‐day ther apy was not inferior to the 14‐day therapy in terms of efficacy. AbstractThe treatment regimen for the eradication ofHelicobacter pylori may be best when therapy is susceptibility guided. However, it is unrealistic to use a strategy based on susceptibility testing to prioritize therapy for every patient in China. Empir...

In this study, we sequenced the 16S rRNA and 18S rRNA genes of fecal bacteria and fungi, respectively, in 134 gastric cancer patients and 58 healthy controls matched by age and gender. Propensity score matching (PSM) was adopted for adjusting diet habits and lifestyle, and 44 patients and 44 healthy controls (matching population) were enrolled. Serum antibody to H. pylori and metabolites of the matching population were detected. The positive rates of antibody to H. pylori between the patients and the control group did not reach the statistical difference. LEfSe analysis indicated that bacteria were more stable than fungi w...

Conclusions Despite the high prevalence of alarm symptoms at diagnosis, coincident major UGI endoscopic findings are rare in adult coeliac disease. These results may be relevant for future developments in coeliac disease diagnosis in adults.

This study confirms previous reports of increased duodenal intraepithelial lymphocytes in patients with concurrentHelicobacter pylori gastritis. Intraepithelial lymphocyte counts of>  15 per villus or>  10 per 100 enterocytes were predictive of infection. Duodenal lymphocytosis decreases significantly after successful eradication therapy but remains elevated when treatment fails.
