Genetic Markers of Circulating Tumor DNA for Monitoring Breast Cancer Patients in Costa Rica

We reported an isolated case and 1 family with several individuals affected by CS. The isolated case showed typical features including fibrocystic breast disease, benign thyroid nodules, and multiple papillomatous lesions in the face and oral cavity and was caused by a novel nonsense mutation (c.940 G>T) in the PTEN gene. In the family, the proband showed erythema nodosum, duodenal ulcer, intestinal polyps, cervical lipoma, renal cysts, and glaucoma, whereas her family revealed multiple members with intestinal polyps and a sister with breast cancer diagnosed at early age.
The 8 cases selected for this presentation include medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) treated conservatively: 2 cases of breast cancer metastasis, 3 cases of multiple myeloma, and 3 cases of osteoporosis. Two of them occurred in the implant area and in 1 case, the treatment was concluded with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. In 5 cases, a bisphosphonate was given via intravenous route and 3 cases by oral administration. Only 1 case had a combination of bisphosphonates and monoclonal antibody (denosumab).
Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCLs) are uncommon in the mouth; however, they are the commonest type of non-Hodgkin lymphomas at this site. Preferentially, they affect tonsils and their occurrence in the upper lip is rare. This work reports a case of DLBCL arising in the left upper lip of a 73-year-old white woman that was recently diagnosed as having advanced breast cancer besides being a carrier of Parkinson and Alzheimer diseases. The mucosal surface of the upper lip displayed a solitary, fast-growing, painful, ulcerated, reddish, and sessile 4-cm-sized swelling without cervical lymph node involvement at presentation.
The reported case is of a 57-year-old female patient with metastatic breast cancer in liver, pleura, and bones treated with eribulin without antiresorptives and sent for assessment of submandibular abscess after extraction of tooth 37 two months before. The examination showed increased volume in the buccal vestibule, retromolar trigone region, and left buccal mucosa without mucosal lesions, palpation hardening, or facial asymmetry. To evaluate the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the genes/loci IRF6, WNT3 A, GSK3 B, 8 q24, and WNT11, representing regions consistently altered in nonsyndromic oral clefts with breast and oral cancers in the Brazilian population.
ConclusionsOur data suggest H3K27me3 loss as an important event in CEMIP mediated breast cancer carcinogenesis and progression. Loss of H3K27me3 is specific for aggressive subtypes of breast cancer and may be a useful diagnostic marker.

CONCLUSION: Available cervical and breast cancers screening services are not attuned to refugee women's views where this study focuses attention on the roles and practices of doctors in preventive health care for refugee women. Merging their perspectives with those of providers and policymaker's can fill the existing gaps and support to formulate the new interventions that will improve women's access to such preventative services.
