Preoperative Prediction of Microvascular Invasion of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Radiomics Algorithm Based on Ultrasound Original Radio Frequency Signals

Conclusions: Radiomics algorithm based on ultrasound ORF data combined with SAP technology can effectively predict MVI, which has potential clinical application value for non-invasively preoperative prediction of MVI in HCC patients.

Conclusions: All the three techniques are feasible for intraoperative HCC thermal ablation. Compared with CEUS, FI techniques are more suitable in patients with ALBI grade 2 and 3, multiple tumors, and in tumors at risky locations. PMID: 31813295 [PubMed - in process]

Recently revised international guidelines for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) suggest that selected patients with inadequate surveillance ultrasonography to be assessed by alternative imaging modalities such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI with contrast material has drawbacks associated with the use of gadolinium contrast agent. Non-enhanced MRI consisted of diffusion-weighted imaging and T2-weighted imaging showed significantly better performance than ultrasonography as a surveillance tool for HCC in a high-risk prospective cohort. The estimated scan time of non-enhanced MRI was less than 6 ...

Authors: Ji X, Zhou S, Yang P, Liu F, Li Y, Li H Abstract Ultrasound (US) combined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHCC) and recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma (RHCC) were compared. The clinical data of 329 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) admitted to Qingdao Women and Children's Hospital from June 2015 to December 2017 were collected. One hundred and sixty patients with PHCC were regarded as the PHCC group, and the other 169 patients with RHCC were regarded as the RHCC group. US and MRI were used in the imaging diagnosis of both groups and the...

AbstractPurposeTo assess the diagnostic performance of the LR-M criteria of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System version 2017 in differentiating intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with and without risk factors for HCC.MethodsFifty-four ICC in patients with risks and 55 ICC in patients without risks and matched control cases of HCC with and without risks (n = 59 andn = 55, respectively) were enrolled. The enhanced features of the lesions were retrospectively analyzed according to LR-M criteria. The diagnostic perfo...

AbstractLiver transplantation has become a definitive treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease and those meeting Milan criteria for hepatocellular carcinoma. The morbidity and mortality associated with liver transplantation continues to decrease thanks to refinements in surgical technique, immunosuppression, and imaging. In particular, imaging plays a vital role by facilitating early detection of post-operative complications and enabling prompt treatment. Post-operative complications that lead to graft failure and patient morbidity/mortality can be generally categorized as vascular, biliary, parenchymal, and mal...

ConclusionGiven the low surveillance rates and the demonstrated increased survival for patients with small tumors, ways to increase surveillance must be initiated. The results of this study demonstrate the need for physician/patient education on the importance of surveillance US. Further, this study supports routine assessment of APRI in AA patients in an effort to identify patients in whom intensive surveillance will significantly improve earlier detection of tumors.

Diagnostic value of Virtual Touch Quantification (VTQ®) for differentiation of hemangiomas from malignant focal liver lesions. Med Ultrason. 2019 Nov 24;21(4):371-376 Authors: Galati G, De Vincentis A, Gallo P, Guidi A, Vespasiani-Gentilucci U, Picardi A Abstract AIM: To evaluate the diagnostic value of Virtual Touch Quantification (VTQ®) for characterizing benign vs. malignant focal liver lesions (FLLs). MATERIAL AND METHODS: From January 2015 to January 2016 all consecutive FLLs visualized during a conventional abdominal ultrasound (US), underwent VTQ® evaluation, taking five measurem...
