Reply to comment: Empirical antibiotic therapy for patients with SBP and ACLF — Need for rapid decision

With great interest, we have read the letter by Ferrarese et al. [1] referring to our publication “Evaluating the best empirical antibiotic therapy in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis” [2]. We thank the authors for the careful reading and their commendation as well as constructive criticism. Through this in-depth discussion, we would surely i mprove the medical treatment in this difficult patient population.
