Quantitative Appraisal Through MRI of Breast Tissue Thickness and Implant Projection After Breast Augmentation with High- and Extra-High-Profile Round Implants

ConclusionSoft cohesive silicone gel-filled high- and extra-high-profile round implants supported breast tissue compressing without significant loss of the implant projection. Despite the consistency of the soft cohesive silicone gel, the implant softness and flexibility were preserved, resulting in low-pressure gradient over the mammary parenchyma without significant changes of the breast tissue thickness.EBM Level IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Conclusions: Taking a lesson from composite breast augmentation, composite buttock augmentation is a new method for gluteal reshaping that seeks to use the best of both worlds: the reliable core projection of an implant combined with the natural appearance and feel of fat. Progressive instrument dissection seeks to minimize unnecessary dissection and to accurately and safely define the intramuscular pocket. The intramuscular placement of implants instead of fat should eliminate the risk of fatal fat pulmonary embolism in these patients. CLINICAL QUESTION/LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic, IV.

We report a case of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma in a 70-year old woman, who 21 years previously had undergone bilateral breast augmentation with textured silicone implants. Eleven years later, she had bilateral implant removal with possible implant leak and presence of ‘atypical cells’ in the seroma. She then opted for prophylactic bilateral mastectomy in view of her strong family history of breast cancer and underwent reconstruction with subcutaneous gel implants. Eight months later, the patient noted right breast swelling and peri-implant effusion. The cytology was suspicious fo...

Roxatidine inhibits fibrosis by inhibiting NF‑κB and MAPK signaling in macrophages sensing breast implant surface materials. Mol Med Rep. 2019 Nov 12;: Authors: Ji L, Wang T, Tian L, Song H, Gao M Abstract Capsular contracture is an important complication after silicone mammary implant surgery. Fibroblasts and macrophages play critical roles in the pathogenesis of capsular contracture, making these two cell types therapeutic targets. It has been reported that inhibiting histamine receptors results attenuates fibrosis, but the role of roxatidine (a histamine receptor 2 inhibitor) in preventing f...
