Extranodal manifestation of classical Hodgkin lymphoma in the head and neck region.

CONCLUSION: An exclusively extranodal manifestation of cHL in Waldeyer's ring is rare, whereas infiltration of extranodal tissue in the case of a primary manifestation of lymphoma in cervical nodes can occur more frequently and may often remain undiagnosed. Therefore, a specialized ENT consultation could be a reasonable complementary module in tumor staging to determine the correct tumor extent. PMID: 31712877 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Monotherapy with the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab can induce complete responses (CR) in patients with follicular lymphoma (FL). Resting FcRγIII+ (CD16+) natural killer (NK) cells respond strongly to rituximab-coated target cells in vitro. Yet, the contribution of NK cells in the therapeutic effect in vivo remains unknown. Here, we followed the NK cell repertoire dynamics in the lymph node and systemically during rituximab monotherapy in patients with FL. At baseline, NK cells in the tumor lymph node had a naïve phenotype albeit they were more differentiated than NK cells derived from control tonsils a...

Waldeyer's lymphatic ring granulomas in children are infrequent, and may represent an underlying systemic disease, often nondiagnosed before adenotonsillectomy is performed. The authors report on a 5-year-old otherwise healthy girl presented with remarkable tonsillar asymmetry as well as adenoid hypertrophy, with no systemic signs or complaints. Adenotonsillectomy was performed to rule out malignancy. Blood workup was normal. Microscopy of both adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy specimens showed multiple foci of epithelioid, noncaseating granulomas with giant multinucleated cells surrounded by nonspecific chronic inflammation...

Conclusions: Our results thus indicate that [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor-PET is feasible for the assessment of MALT lymphomas, with a good tumor-to-background ratio in terms of radiotracer uptake.

Conclusions: Our preliminary data indicate that FDG-PET would be useful for differentiating PTLD from other etiologies, although no quantitative parameters in PET did provide significant prognostic information. These results should be verified in larger cohorts.

Conclusions: FDG PETCT scans accurately detected subclinical recurrence in 8% of patients surveyed. The systematic use of FDG PETCT as a surveillance tool for detection of recurrence in asymptomatic patients with treated head and neck cancers should be further evaluated in larger trials.

In conclusion, this study provides a systematic analysis of the expression of TRAIL-Rs in human primary B cells and of their capacity to signal and induce apoptosis. This dataset forms a basis to further study and understand the dysregulation of TRAIL-Rs and TRAIL expression observed in autoimmune diseases. Additionally, it will be important to foresee potential bystander immunomodulation when TRAIL-R agonists are used in cancer treatment. Introduction The homeostasis of humoral immunity requires a tight control of generation, survival, activation and maturation of B lymphocytes. Therefore, pro-survival and pro-apo...

Conclusions and Future Perspectives It is now evident that NK/ILC family plays a pivotal role in the immune defenses. Recent studies in murine and human settings demonstrated that the expression of several inhibitory checkpoints, that may be detrimental in the tumor context, is not restricted to T lymphocytes, revealing an important, yet poorly appreciated, contribution of their expression on innate immune cells. Thus, in the recent years different immunotherapy approaches, based on the blockade of inhibitory NK cell receptors, have been developed in order to unleash NK cell cytotoxicity. This is particularly important in...
