This study is to compare characteristics and treatment outcomes of CNO patients with spinal involvement. The retrospective cohort study included data from 91 pediatric patients with CNO. The diagnosis is based on Jannson ’s criteria with morphological confirmation (nonspecific chronic inflammation). Spine involvement detected by X-ray, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and bone scan in 29 (31.9%) patients. No differences in the family history, concomitant immune-mediated diseases between spinal (SpC NO) and peripheral (pCNO) forms of CNO have been revealed. Only 5 (10.2%) SpCNO patients (10.2%) had mon...

CONCLUSION: Cutibacterium acnes can be responsible for postoperative empyema and cerebral abscesses, with particular indolent forms, which make their diagnosis difficult. They are often polymicrobial and associated with bone flap osteomyelitis. Their outcome is favorable after drainage and adapted antibiotic therapy. PMID: 31668987 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

FT-IR analysis permitted structure and corresponding bands identification. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) was used for morphology analysis and nanostrucure dimen...

We have previously identified that this material can effectively treat chronic osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus in vivo. However, the potential mechanisms of antibacterial and osteogenic induction properties remain unclear. Thus, for osteogenesis property, immunohistochemistry, PCR, and wes...

I have several patients right now with fibular osteomyelitis that were dumped on me by ortho (ankle fracture ORIF complications) and two from wound care where chronic wounds were over the fibula for months and resulted in contiguous spread. Lab work up demonstrates elevated inflammatory markers. Advanced imaging workup usually includes CT/bone scan (if hardware present) and MRI (if hardware is not present). What are people doing for these? My go to is to excise the fibula and/or remove... Fibular osteomyelitis
