CONCLUSIONS: Visual improvement after surgical reattachment of MHRD in high myopia was not maintained, and favorable macular hole closure effects were not observed at 3-year follow-up. PMID: 31833251 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: If a patient with a history of CL wear for an extended period of time presents with decreased visual acuity, practitioners should perform detailed examinations with suspicion of CL-LSCD, including fluorescein staining. CL-LSCD is usually reversible and close follow-up with conservative treatment is recommended as the initial treatment option. PMID: 31833246 [PubMed - in process]

Conclusion: This self-control study without much interference factors shows that the decentration of OK lens can delay the development of myopia more effectively than being centric when uncorrected visual acuity was acceptable without obvious corneal complications, glare, or ghosting. In most cases, myopia occurs due to excessive axial elongation of the eyeball. Nowadays, it is possible to correct vision even in cases of high myopia using various types of spectacles, contact lenses (CL) or refractive surgery. However, a significant concern related to myopia is the increased risk of ocular pathologies related to excessive eye growth, such as glaucoma, cataract, idiopathic retinal detachment or choroidal neovascularization [1]. In recent decades, the prevalence of myopia has increased dramatically worldwide [2 –4].

Authors: Charng J, Sanfilippo PG, Lingham G, Stevenson LJ, Mackey DA, Yazar S Abstract Purpose: To consider the effect of including past sun exposure in estimating heritability and familial correlation of myopia-related traits. Methods: We calculate familial correlation and heritability of anterior chamber depth (ACD), axial length (AL), corneal curvature (CC), and spherical equivalent (SphE), with or without past sun exposure as a covariate, in a large number of unrelated nuclear families from the Raine Study (parents: Gen1, offspring: Gen2) residing in Perth, Australia, a city with a high amount of daily sunlight....
