FristonAbstractModels of coupled phase oscillators are used to describe a wide variety of phenomena in neuroimaging. These models typically rest on the premise that oscillator dynamics do not evolve beyond their respective limit cycles, and hence that interactions can be described purely in terms of phase differences. Whilst mathematically convenient, the restrictive nature of phase-only models can limit their explanatory power. We therefore propose a generalisati...
This report describes current practice as well as complications noted following disbudding of goat kids in the Netherlands. Complications include failure to recover from anaesthesia as well as neurological symptoms and subsequent death up to two weeks after the procedure. Considerations for optimal disbudding management, including practical, legislative, technical, and anaesthesiologic concerns are briefly discussed. Data on both the safety and efficacy of local anaesthetic injections for disbudding in goat kids are scarce. Therefore, more field studies focusing on feasibility and efficacy of local anaesthetic approaches w...
The patient said she was "traumatised" after feeling pain during surgery at Yeovil Hospital last year.
ConclusionBreast pilonidal sinus is an extremely rare variant of the condition. It should be suspected on clinical examination. Surgical excision is the definitive treatment strategy.
Massage therapy, chiropractic adjustments, herbs and supplements are most commonly recommended

Abstract BACKGROUND: Mechanical ventilation (MV) is identified as an independent contributor to diaphragmatic atrophy and contractile dysfunction. Appropriate sedation is also essential during MV, and anesthetics may have direct adverse effects on the diaphragm. However, there is a lack of research into the effects of different anesthetics on diaphragm function during MV. OBJECTIVES: In the present study, we aim to examine the effect of midazolam, dexmedetomidine, and propofol on diaphragm function during MV. DESIGN: Animal study. SETTING: University research laboratory. SUBJECTS: Male Wistar r...
