Association of Body Mass Index and Outcome in Acutely Ill Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease Requiring Intensive Care Therapy

An association of body mass index (BMI) and outcome, the “obesity paradox,” has been described in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease. We sought to assess whether a potential beneficial effect of a high body mass is also seen in CKD patients with critical illness.
