CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests a significant association between postnatal steroid therapy and ASD in VLBW infants. This possible association should be considered in future studies evaluating potential risk factors for ASD in preterm infants. PMID: 31791046 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusion:Combination of steroid with PF may be beneficial in Pts. with active sarcoidosis who do not respond to steroid therapy.PF may exert a steroid-sparing effect in the treatment of active sarcoidosis.Combine therapy reduces severe side of a long-lasting steroid therapy.

Conclusions: KL-6 is a reliable biomarker of fibrotic lung involvement, while chitotriosidase may be an indicator of extrapulmonary localizations of disease in Sarcoidosis patients. Among biomarkers, KL-6 and chitotriosidase showed the best sensitivity and the best specificity, respectively, even in patients on chronic steroid-therapy.

Background: Complete heart block (CHB) is a serious complication of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) which requires pacemaker implantation. Some patients recover from CHB after steroid therapy.Aims and Objectives: To investigate whether cardiac imaging features including echocardiography (Echo), 18F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET), cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) or cardiac CT could predict recovery of CHB.Methods: Seventeen CS patients newly diagnosed with CHB who received steroid therapy were included. The presence of basal thinning of the interventricular septum (IVS) on Echo was evaluated....

ConclusionThe confinement within the radiation field and the latency of appearance are suggestive of delayed radiation myelopathy. Nevertheless, the relatively low dose of radiation received and the full recovery after pembrolizumab discontinuation and steroid therapy plead for the contribution of both radiotherapy and immunotherapy in the causality of this complication, as an enhanced inflammatory reaction on a focal post-radiation chronic inflammatory state. In the three previously described cases of myelopathy occurring after radiotherapy and immunotherapy, a complete recovery had not been obtained and the immunotherapy...

Conclusion: Bevacizumab is a effective and safe for treatment of RIBE after GKRS. A protocol-based dose schedule in addition to frequent clinical and radiological evaluations are required. Bevacizumab should be considered as an early treatment option for RIBE.

ConclusionsAcute VZV infection may present as fulminant hepatitis. The presentation may initially be challenging for the diagnosis and should be considered if the patient has been in contact with a sick case. Low dose corticosteroid could carry a risk for fatal VZV fulminant hepatitis and should be used very cautiously especially with VZV patients’ contacts. Further causative relationships remain to be established.

Conclusions: The available data precluded definitive conclusions because of the significant discrepancy between the included studies. The leading cause was the presence of heterogeneity due to coding inaccuracies in all databases, absence of ICD codes to distinguish the different type of complications, and the lack of coding data about some general conditions such as sepsis, shock, malnutrition, steroid therapy, diabetes, pulmonary, and heart failure.
