Health ‐related quality of life and its associated factors among outpatients with osteoporosis

ConclusionThe HRQoL has considerable scope for improvement in patients with osteoporosis in the present study. Future osteoporosis management programmes should focus on improving HRQoL with specific attention to be given for patients with low serum vitamin D level, patients receiving multiple medications, patients having movement restriction, patients having spine kyphosis and those who have no friend or family member to remind them to take the medication.

Conclusions: The use of KP to treat OVCF in RA group exhibited similar outcomes to non-RA group in terms of pain reduction, vertebral height restoration, and kyphosis correction. However, RA group had significantly higher rate of complications involving adjacent segment fracture and recollapse. Therefore, careful followup after KP in patients with RA is required to monitor for high complication rate.

ConclusionsSix months ’ treatment by an activating spinal orthosis showed no significant difference in back pain, back extensor strength, or kyphosis index between the three groups. ConclusionsSpinal deformity is the most common musculoskeletal manifestation of NF1. Cervical lesions are frequently asymptomatic, but patients with thoracolumbar scoliosis, dystrophic features, or a history of laminectomy should have the cervical spine carefully evaluated. For severe and progressive kyphotic deformities, most authors recommend a period of traction followed by a combined anterior-posterior fusion that is instrumented from parallel to parallel vertebra (or six or more levels). Close follow-up is very important because complications and progression are frequent.

ConclusionThere is no established method for treatment of multiple vertebral fractures caused by glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. Initial treatment with teriparatide to improve osteoporosis followed by treatment of kyphosis with correction fusion may result in a more favorable outcome.
