M067 kohlrabi cross-reactivity with latex causing allergic angioedema and anaphylaxis: a challenging case

Latex exposure is a common cause of angioedema and anaphylaxis. It is estimated that 50-70% of latex-allergic people have IgE antibodies cross-reactive to antigens from some vegetables and fruits, including avocado, banana, chestnut, and kiwi. This is referred to as the latex-fruit syndrome. Kohlrabi, a type of turnip, is not commonly associated with this phenomenon. Identifying a potential cross-reactivity between Latex and Kohlrabi can prevent anaphylaxis.
