The as-prepared photocatalysts were used to remove organic pollutants in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. The C/BiOI samples demonstrated excellent photocatalytic performance for degradation of methyl orange (MO), which is about 4 times higher than that of BiOI. Furthermore, C/BiOI also displayed good stability after 5 cycles testing. Such superior performance was attributed to the enhanced absorption ability and increased separation of photogenerated electrons and holes.Graphical abstract
