American Gastroenterological Association-Ferring Research Institute Award in Celiac Disease Research Eligibility: Research Investigators Total Amount: $120,000 Amount per year: $60,000 Duration: 2 years Deadline: Oct. 25, 2013 Start Date: Jan. 2014 This award provides $60,000 per year for two years (up to $10,000/year may be used for equipment and supplies) to investigators engaged in research related to gluten intolerance disorders or food allergies. Funding for this award is provided by the Ferring Research Institute, San Diego, CA. OBJECTIVE  The overall objective of the AGA research awards program is to enable investigators, especially those in the early stages of their careers, to develop and maintain independent and productive research careers in digestive diseases by ensuring that a major proportion of their time is protected for research. The specific objectives of this award are to further research into: (1) the role of the immune system in the pathogenesis of gluten-intolerance disorders, and (2) the relationship of the gut microbiota to gluten intolerance. (The proposed research does not necessarily have to relate to the gut microbiota.)
