In this study, by combining the excellent photothermal effect of graphene and antibacterial activity of AgNPs, we have applied reduced graphene oxide/silver (RGO/Ag) nanocomposite to destroy the MDR bacteria. The antibacterial activity of the RGO/Ag nanocomposite was systematically investigated using a regular bacterium of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and an MDR bacterium of Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kp). Compared with AgNPs, graphene oxide (GO) and RGO, the RGO/Ag nanocomposite showed significant higher antibacterial efficiency for both regular bacteria and MDR bacteria. Under a near-infrared (NIR) irradiation (0.30 W/cm2 fo...

Authors: Nekrasov KA, Vikarchuk MV, Rudenko EE, Ivanitskiy IV, Grygorenko VM, Danylets RO, Kondratov AG, Stoliar LA, Sharopov BR, Kashuba VI Abstract The detection of prostate cancer (PCa) biomarkers in bodily fluids, a process known as liquid biopsy, is a promising approach and particularly beneficial when performed in urine samples due to their maximal non-invasiveness requirement of collection. A number of gene panels proposed for this purpose have allowed discrimination between disease-free prostate and PCa; however, they bear no significant prognostic value. With the purpose to develop a gene panel for PCa dia...

In conclusion, Abdominal DTs were prone to occur in patients with FAP with a history of abdominal surgery. Mutations in the APC, CTNNB1 and MUTYH genes were detected in patients with DTs. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of abdominal DT occurrence in patients with MUTYH-associated FAP. The prognosis of DT associated with FAP may be worse compared with that of sporadic DT. PMID: 31807167 [PubMed]

CONCLUSION: Deficiencies in public knowledge and insufficient provider practices are likely contributing to the suboptimal rates of HPV vaccination among eligible males. Additionally, eligible males are not interested in speaking with their healthcare providers about either HPV or the HPV vaccine. If the rates of HPV vaccination within the male population are to increase, health educators, public health proponents, and vaccine advocates need to devise a more effective approach to disseminate this information to eligible male recipients. In conclusion, the results suggest that, because of its bioactivity including the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and enzyme inhibition properties, the D. macrolepis can be accepted as a promising and natural source for the industrial applications. The present study is the first study, in which the bioactive components and the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and enzyme inhibition properties of endemic D. macrolepis plant were determined.
