Colon hydrotherapy plus Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: a pilot study.

CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that CHT plus TCM to treat NAFLD is promising and it might be a new treatment strategy for management of NAFLD. PMID: 31682383 [PubMed]

CONCLUSION: Gender, BMI, and HDL were found to be predictors of steatosis. Male patients with low HDL and high BMI are at greater risk of steatosis and should be carefully examined for the presence of NAFLD. PMID: 31754954 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Yang F, Jia X, Lei P, He Y, Xiang Y, Jiao J, Zhou S, Qian W, Duan Q Abstract OBJECTIVE: To develop and test a novel method for automatic quantification of hepatic steatosis in histologic images based on the deep learning scheme designed to predict the fat ratio directly, which aims to improve accuracy in diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with objective assessment of the severity of hepatic steatosis instead of subjective visual estimation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-six 8-week old New Zealand white rabbits of both sexes were fed with high-cholesterol, high-fat diet and sacrifice...

DiscussionDependent on animal model, both histopathological and biochemical end-points differed between sampling sites in the liver. Based on these findings, we recommend that sample site location is highly standardized and properly reported in order to minimize potential sampling variation and to optimize reproducibility and meaningful comparisons of preclinical studies of NAFLD.

Conclusions/interpretationThese results indicate thatLight deficiency in HFHCD improves hepatic glucose tolerance, and reduces hepatic inflammation and NAFL. This is accompanied by decreased systemic inflammation and adipose tissue cytokine secretion and by changes in the expression of key genes such asKlf6 andTlr4 involved in NAFLD. These results suggest that therapies to block LIGHT-dependent signalling might be useful to restore hepatic homeostasis and to restrain NAFLD.

Abstract Clinical and animal studies have reported an association between low birth weight and the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in offspring. Using a model of prenatal maternal 70% food restriction diet (FR30) in rat, we previously showed that maternal undernutrition predisposes offspring to altered lipid metabolism in adipose tissue, especially under high-fat (HF) diet. Here, using microarray-based expression profiling combined with metabolic, endocrine, biochemical, histological and lipidomic approaches, we assessed whether FR30 procedure sensitizes adult male offspring to impaired li...

This study aimed to investigate prevalence and risk factors of biopsy proven NAFLD in a cluster of healthy non-obese and lean individuals. Methods and MaterialsIn a retrospective study, adult (> 18 years) apparently healthy individuals who had donated liver to pediatric patients between July 2012 and October 2018 were included. Non-obese and lean individuals were defined as BMI
