Removal of Protein-Bound Uremic Toxins by Liposome-Supported Peritoneal Dialysis.
Conclusions:Supplementing conventional glucose-based PD solutions with a binder could efficiently increase the removal of PBUTs. This preliminary study suggested that LSPD may be a promising alternative to albumin PD for increasing PBUT removal in the development of next-generation PD solutions for PD patients. Conclusion: In I/R-induced AKI, the monoclonal anti-C5 complement factor ameliorates intra renal complement activation, decreases local and systemic inflammation and may improve GFR. PMID: 31662004 [PubMed - in process]
Authors: Mateescu DŞ, Gheonea M, Bălgrădean M, Enculescu AC, Şerbănescu MS, Nechita F, Pirici D, Rogoveanu I Abstract A significant cause of end-stage renal disease in infants (40% to 50% of cases) is represented by the group of renal cystic diseases. Actually, the fourth cause of renal failure in young adults is the autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Moreover, the most common genetically inherited kidney disease was proved to be ADPKD, affecting 1-5 per 10 000 individuals. The study was conducted over a period of three years (July 26, 2015-October 30, 2018) on 22 patients aged between two d...
CONCLUSIONS: A novel, evidence-based decision aid was created for patients with renal masses considering surgery. The decision aid is available at https://decisionaid.ohri.ca/AZsumm.php?ID=1913. A separate decision aid addressing the management of small renal masses is currently under development. PMID: 31540831 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
ConclusionLiraglutide may promote autophagy through regulating the AMPK/mTOR pathway to exert renoprotective effects in a rat remnant kidney model of chronic renal failure.
CONCLUSION: Living donor nephrectomy leads to an important medium to long term loss of renal function. Donors with pre operative GFR
ConclusionTransplantation from living donors allows better results in terms of graft survival without exposing the donor to inconsiderate risks, provided that the donors are properly selected.
A 38-year-old Caucasian male with a complex urologic history of renal transplantation and ileal conduit urinary diversion was admitted with acute renal failure and found to have an obstructing ileal conduit mass. The patient's history was notable for posterior urethral valves status post ablation as an infant, construction of a catheterizable channel at age 2, ileal conduit urinary diversion at age 4, left nephrectomy for recurrent pyelonephritis in a nonfunctioning kidney at age 7, and living-related kidney transplant for progressive chronic kidney disease at age 27.
Authors: Tan RZ, Zhong X, Li JC, Zhang YW, Yan Y, Liao Y, Wen D, Diao H, Wang L, Shen HC Abstract 5/6 Nephrectomy (PNx) on rat and mouse mimics renal failure after loss of kidney function in human, and it has been widely used in CKD researches. However, existing methods for PNx model construction present high mortality of animals after modeling due to hemorrhage and infection in or after surgery. Here, we report a novel and highly efficient PNx modeling method to simulate conventional 5/6 nephrectomy, which significantly reduced the mortality of animals and simplified the modeling procedures. In this novel modeling...
Conclusion: We are the first to verify UII induces mice skeletal muscle atrophy associated with enhanced skeletal muscle autophagy and inhibited FNDC5 expression in chronic renal failure.Kidney Blood Press Res
This study profiled the accumulation of uremic solutes in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in acute renal failure. CSF and plasma ultrafiltrate were obtained from rats at 48 hours after sham operation (control, n=10) or bilateral nephrectomy (nephrectomy, n=10) and analyzed using an established metabolomic platform. 248 solutes were identified as uremic based on their accumulation in plasma ultrafiltrate of nephrectomized compared to control rats. CSF levels of 124 of these solutes were sufficient to allow calculation of CSF/plasma ultrafiltrate concentration ratios. Levels of many of the uremic solutes were normally lower in...
