ConclusionsThe present drug-free IVA approach may be suitable for POR patients with DOR, as it increased the number of antral follicles. The procedure also eliminated the need for 2-day incubation with drugs and required only one surgery. This approach could allow the retrieval of more oocytes in middle-aged women to achieve higher pregnancy rates and deserves proper evaluation in future randomized controlled trials.

Long non‑coding RNA NR_002794 is upregulated in pre‑eclampsia and regulates the proliferation, apoptosis and invasion of trophoblast cells. Mol Med Rep. 2019 Sep 24;: Authors: Ma Y, Liang X, Wu H, Zhang C, Ma Y Abstract Pre‑eclampsia is a common complication during pregnancy, characterized by hypertension and proteinuria. The pathogenesis of pre‑eclampsia is not fully understood. Studies on the maternal spiral artery have led scientists to consider that the ineffective infiltration of placental trophoblast cells may be a primary cause of pre‑eclampsia. The present study aimed to investigate t...

Authors: di Spiezio Sardo A, Mastantuoni E, De Angelis MC, Zizolfi B Abstract Today the rate of unexpected pregnancy is still unacceptably high; long-acting reversible contraceptives, (LARC) seem to be an effective and modern solution. Intrauterine contraception (IUC) is the main exponent of the LARC and it is living a new exponential spread in the last years. Today IUC is the most widely used reversible contraceptive method and it is recommended by the major scientific gynecological societies. This review of the literature aims to retrace the history of intrauterine contraception and to focus attention on intraute...

Publication date: 1 February 2020Source: Personality and Individual Differences, Volume 154Author(s): Janko Međedović, Uroš KovačevićAbstractOne of the major evolutionary puzzles of personality is the existence of inter-individual variation in behavior. The variation in personality may be maintained by natural selection if various states moderate the link between personality and fitness - if personality traits have beneficial contribution to fitness in certain conditions but detrimental in others, the inter-individual variation in behavior will be preserved. We tested the state-dependent model of personality by ...

AbstractLipid droplets (LD) are dynamically-regulated organelles that originate from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and function in the storage, trafficking and metabolism of neutral lipids. In mammary epithelial cells (MEC) of lactating animals, intact LD are secreted intact into milk to form milk lipids by a novel apocrine mechanism. The secretion of intact LD and the relatively large amounts of lipid secreted by lactating MEC increase demands on the cellular processes responsible for lipid synthesis and LD formation. As yet these processes are poorly defined due to limited understanding of LD-ER interactions. To overco...

We present the case of a pregnant woman admitted for sudden and severe abdominal pain at 34 weeks gestation. Her previous medical history included endometriosis suspected by clinical symptoms and ultrasound. During cesarean section, performed by sustained fetal bradycardia, a large volume hemoperitoneum and multiple hemorrhagic foci in the posterior uterine wall were detected. Although rare, spontaneous hemoperitoneum may occur in pregnancy, especially in women with endometriosis. Thus, a prompt suspicion and expedite intervention are needed to improve maternal and fetal outcomes. PMID: 31703187 [PubMed - in process]
