A618 Robotic Revision of a Bleeding Marginal Ulcer Following a Roux en Y Gastric Bypass

Marginal ulceration can occur in up to 20% of cases. The etiology is unclear. Many authors have suggested that smoking, fistula, H. Pylori infection, foreign bodies, NSAID use or even obstructive sleep apnea status can contribute to the development of marginal ulceration. Marginal ulcers can present with pain, dysphagia, perforation or bleeding. The treatment of a bleeding ulcer is supportive. Endoscopic intervention may be required. In refractory cases patient may have to undergo a revision. Robotic surgery can offer many advantages in revisional surgery and potentially lead to improved outcome.

I ’ve had a fever, a cough and breathlessness since February, and been in and out of hospital. If it isn’t coronavirus, what is it? BySimon HattenstoneI ’m lying in bed, shivering like crazy. My partner, Diane, is asleep, and I burrow deep into her back. I’m sweating like crazy, too. I’m desperate for the loo, and I run there in my shivery sweats and sweaty shivers. It’s only five minutes since I last went. When I sleep, the same obsessive m oment plays again and again. It’s to do with numbers. I need to get past number nine, but I can’t. The dream lasts for hours. Finally, I...

CONCLUSION: Data suggest different roles of opioidergic system and their antagonist in pain control and mood in PTSD. However, further investigations need to be done in order to reveal the role of endogenous opioidergic system and opioidergic antagonist system as a mediator in PTSD patients suffering from acute or chronic pain. CONCLUSIONS: MSG administered parenterally to the higher dose to adult rats affects the immunoreactivity of S100β protein in PAG. Phenotypic changes of the studied cells may indicate reactivity of glial cells and increased expression of the studied protein whereas a decrease in their number may result from the increased protein secretion into the extracellular space or cytotoxic death of glial cells. Conclusion: A superior thyroid artery hemorrhage should be suspected if a patient develops delayed neck swelling with or without respiratory decompensation several days to weeks following an ACDF. Notably, these hematomas should be immediately recognized and treated (i.e., decompression starting at the bedside and completed in the operating room) to prevent catastrophic morbidity or mortality. Conclusion: Here, we discussed our findings regarding a lumbar EVP rather than a herniated disk and reviewed the current literature. Although rare, a higher index of suspicion for these vascular malformations based on combined historical information and MRI studies should allow one to better detect and/or anticipate an EVP rather than a routine disk.
