CONCLUSION: In this context, preventive measures and specialized care are necessary. Thus, it is important to propose a close follow-up to the individuals who have been infected by the virus, in order to set up the earliest care possible. Likewise, in pregnant women, screening of mood disorders during the pregnancy or the postpartum period must be facilitated. The follow-up of the babies born during the pandemic must be strengthened to screen and care for possible neurodevelopmental disorders. PMID: 32928535 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We provide a detailed histopathologic description of morphological changes accompanied by an analysis of presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the placental tissue. All placentas were term deliveries (40th and 41st gestational weeks). One SARS-CoV-2-positive patient presented with cough and dyspnoea. This placenta showed prominent lymphohistiocytic villitis and intervillositis and signs of maternal and foetal malperfusion. Viral RNA was present in both plac...

Primary aHUS arises from genetic abnormalities, resulting in uncontrolled complement activity, while a variety of clinical scenarios cause secondary aHUS, including infection, pregnancy, malignancy, autoimmune disease, and medications. They can also induce a temporary complement deregulation with an overlap between b...
