Robotic-assisted breast-axillo insufflation thyroidectomy (RABIT): a retrospective case series of thyroid carcinoma

ConclusionRABIT is a safe and feasible approach for thyroidectomy. It has several advantages in that it provides similar symmetrical view to conventional open surgery and enables to maintain specimen integrity and use of assistant port permits better handling of the gland. Additionally, the largest operating angles with this technique prevent collision between the robotic arms and provide excellent cosmetic satisfaction due to very small, five separate breast-axillo incisions.

In conclusion, the patients with PTM had comparable outcomes with regard to mortality and cancer-specific mortality compared with those without PTM. This study showed that the patients with PTM can obtain an acceptable outcome after LDLT when carefully selected. PMID: 32023575 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We describe the characteristics of first 50 patients with OSA and cancer of the register. Only 30% were females, 70% smokers (current or former), the median AHI at diagnosis was 43, 80% received positive airway pressure (PAP) treatment. Cancer diagnosis were retrospectively collected by anamnestic data from Vercelli register at the time of OSA diagnosis before starting PAP treatment. Results: In OSA and cancer patients from Vercelli Register, 34% had Urinary Tract Cancer (only 2 females, p

Conclusions: In OSCC, very low preoperative NLR values have a negative prognostic impact on survival and recurrence, similarly to high ratios. ENE and perineural spread are the most important clinical-pathologic prognosticators. Introduction Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for more than 95% of oral tumors and is the eighth most frequent cancer worldwide, with an estimated incidence of 640,000 new cases per year (1). Survival of OSCC has slightly improved over the last 30 years, probably as a consequence of multimodal treatment spreading. However, intensified therapeutic regimens can result in signific...

This study aimed to explore whether a correlation exists between the incidence and mortality of cancers and normalized internet search volumes on the big data platform, Baidu. We also assessed whether the distribution of people who searched for specific types of cancer differed by gender. Finally, we determined whether there were regional disparities among people who searched the Web for cancer-related information. Methods: Standard Boolean operators were used to choose search terms for each type of cancer. Spearman’s correlation analysis was used to explore correlations among monthly search index values for each can...

Conclusions:Evaluating isolated cranial nerve palsy can be challenging owing to the exhaustive list of causes. Our patient not only highlights the importance of a thorough systemic examination before a presumptive diagnosis of Bell’s palsy is made but also serves as a reminder to consider and exclude rare causes such as temporal bone lesions.Disclosure: Dr. Isaac has nothing to disclose. Metallothionein is cysteine-rich low molecular mass protein. The involvement of MT in many physiological and pathophysiological processes such as apoptosis, proliferation, angiogenesis, and the detoxification of heavy metals suggested participation of this protein in carcinogenesis and tumor therapy. Depending on the type of tissue and classification of carcinoma various it was observed relation between MT expression and tumor type, stage, grade, poor prognosis and body resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. MT in tumor cell plays important role in defense mechanism against the effect of radiation by inhibiting the ...

aradağ O, Kasifoglu N, Arslantas D, Sahin F, Keser G, Yavuz S, Birlik M, Onat AM Abstract Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune connective tissue disease with multisystem involvement. An increased incidence of cancer in SSc patients compared with the general population has been reported in several reports. Our aims in this study were to determine the most common malignancies and to investigate the possible risk factors for the development of malignancy in patients with SSc. Three hundred forty SSc patients from 13 centers were included to the study. Data of the patients were obtained by evaluating their medic...
