Authors: Chang MS, Chen NC, Hsu CY, Huang CW, Lee PT, Chou KJ, Fang HC, Chen CL Abstract Background: Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) is a serious complication of peritoneal dialysis (PD), with high morbidity and mortality that requires an early diagnosis for effective treatment. PD withdrawal and bacterial peritonitis are important triggers for the onset of EPS. However, few studies have focused on cases of PD withdrawal without a clinical diagnosis of peritonitis, cirrhosis, or carcinomatosis. We aimed to compare the clinical characteristics and computed tomography (CT) images of patients with or without ...

Authors: Altiparmak B, Toker MK, Uysal Aİ, Kuşçu Y, Demirbilek SG Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The primary aim of this study is to assess the effect of ultrasoung-guided erector spinae block on postoperative opioid consumption after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The secondary aims are to assess the effects of erector spinae plane block on intraoperative fentanyl need and postoperative pain scores. METHODS: Patients between 18-70 years old, ASA I-II were included in the study and randomly allocated into two groups. In Group ESP, patients received bilateral US-ESP with 40ml of 0.25% bupivacaine at...

Publication date: 15 February 2020Source: Materials Chemistry and Physics, Volume 242Author(s): Feng Qin, Bing Li, Lei Chen, Zhongyu ShangAbstractThe measurement of elastic constants is very important to the study of materials. Laser ultrasonic technology has been widely concerned for its unique advantages and used to measure elastic constants, but the current measurement methods have their limitations. In general, traditional measurement methods require the use of a fatigue tester or measurement of all modal waves during the experiment. It is found that cracks can transform the mode of ultrasonic wave, in other words, the...

Panoramic Observation of Crystalline Lenses with 25 MHz Ultrasonography. J Ophthalmol. 2019;2019:8319027 Authors: Xue W, Zou H Abstract Purpose: To visualize and assess in vivo the age-related changes in crystalline lens size and contour. Methods: Seventy-nine healthy volunteers, 39 females and 40 males, with a mean age of 41.53 + 11.32 years (range: 21 to 60 years) were enrolled in this study. The axial lens thickness (ALT), equatorial lens diameter (ELD), and anterior (R a) and posterior (R p) lens surface radii of curvatures of the subjects' left eyes were measured with a 25...
