EP News: Basic and Translational

Boyle et  al (Nat Biomed Eng August 19, 2019; doi:10.1038/s41551-019-0437-9, PMID 31427780) provided evidence for personalized computational modeling for the predetermination of ablation targets to guide the ablation procedure in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial fibrosis. The per sonalized computational models of the atria are reconstructed from each patient’s late gadolinium enhancement magnetic resonance imaging scans and are designed to eliminate the ability of the patient’s fibrotic substrate to sustain AF.
