Overexpression of AKR1B10 correlated with tumorigenesis of many human malignancies; however, the prognostic value of AKR1B10 expression in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) still remains controversial. In conclusion, circulating microRNAs, particularly the miR-125b, may serve as promising biomarkers for the early diagnosis of HBV-related HCC. However, larger and more rigorous studies are needed to confirm our conclusions.
