CONCLUSIONS: Clinically detectable fluid overload and shift are prevalent in patients addressed for suspected OSA, and evening sock marks, a marker for leg swelling, is an independent correlate of moderate-to-severe OSA. This sign might contribute to OSA diagnosis and identification of patients likely to be treated by interventions targeting fluid overload and shift. PMID: 31813134 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsThe intensive and interactive intervention of MTSP improved the self-efficacy of OSA patients, and consequently, resulted in sign and symptom relief, such as AHI, daytime sleepiness, snoring and dry mouth. The MTSP was dedicated to the nurse practitioner to improve the way to dispense the MT. This research has implications for the successful treatment of OSA.

Abstract Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is very common but is frequently undiagnosed. Symptoms include loud snoring, nocturnal awakening, and daytime sleepiness. Motor vehicle accidents due to drowsy driving are a particular concern. Evaluation and treatment should focus on symptomatic patients, both to alleviate symptoms and to potentially decrease cardiovascular risk. In recent years, a strategy of home sleep apnea testing followed by initiation of autotitrating continuous positive airway pressure therapy in the home has greatly reduced barriers to diagnosis and treatment and has also facilitated routine manageme...

Introduction: In recent years, the prevalence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in the Indian population has increased. Despite this surge, the awareness of OSA in our population is low.Aims: To determine the predisposing risk factors and awareness of OSA in an unselected Indian population. Methods: An Internet-based questionnaire consisting of 14 questions pertaining to various facets of OSA was administered to 1006 subjects via several social media platforms. Given the difficulties in measuring neck circumference in an internet-based survey, a STOP-BAG score was calculated instead of a STOP-BANG score. Increased risk of OS...
