High frequency jet ventilator ‒ a new approach in the management of anesthesia for pediatric C.a Magnetic Resonance Imaging: case series

ConclusionsThis case series demonstrates that the use of a high frequency jet ventilator for cardiac MRI was feasible, safe, providing good quality cardiac imaging and avoiding anesthesia personnel to be inside the hazardous environment of MRI room. Future studies are needed to confirm its safety and efficiency in pediatric patients.

We presented the physics preparations and clinical workflow required for implementing MRI-based HDR IBT (MRI-HDR-IBT) of gynecologic cancer patients in a high-volume brachytherapy center. The present document is designed to focus on the clinical steps required from a physicist's standpoint. Those steps include: (a) testing IBT equipment with MRI scanner, (b) preparation of templates and catheters, (c) preparation of MRI line markers, (d) acquisition, importation and registration of MRI images, (e) development of treatment plans and (f) treatment evaluation and documentation. The checklists of imaging acquisition, registrat...

Tal, Berg / Boaz, FrenkelPage 816 - 820Preauricular swelling followed by limited mouth opening can be a challenging diagnosis. All anatomical structures and related pathologies should be examined. A 41-year-old woman presented to the Emergency Room complaining of limited mouth opening, severe pain that was worse on chewing, and swelling over her right temporomandibular joint (TMJ) that had started 3 days previously. Physical examination revealed localized swelling and redness over her right TMJ. Her right masticatory muscles were very painful and tender on palpation. Mouth opening was slightly limited. A computed tomograph...

Conclusion: Dexmedetomidine 1μg/kg, ketamine 1 mg/kg, and propofol 1 mg/kg provide good conditions for initiation of MRI. Although dexmedetomidine at 0.7μg/kg/h and propofol at 3 mg/kg/h are safe and effective for maintenance, propofol provides faster recovery.

By now most of us are familiar with Brexit, the UK’s pending divorce with the European Union. But in a play on that term, British doctors are also moving towards an exit they’ve dubbed “TRexit” from the most common sort of prostate biopsy: the transrectal ultrasound guided biopsy, or TRUS. Men who test positive on the PSA cancer screening test will usually have a prostate biopsy that’s performed in either of two ways. With a TRUS, doctors guided by an ultrasound machine can sample the prostate using a biopsy needle inserted through the rectum. Alternatively, the biopsy needle can be inserted (...

Abstract We studied relationships of Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) pulsatile flow at cervical, thoracic and lumbar levels using Phase Contrast Cine Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PCCMRI) to determine: 1. Instantaneous and average net flows at cervical, thoracic and lumbar 2. Stochastic correlations of CSF flow with major arterial supplies and major draining veins. 3. If adjustments of cord flow curves using cord cross-sectional areas, caudal lengths and caudal volumes would normalizeflow curves from different levels. We scanned 15 healthy volunteers without anesthesia, ages 23-46 years, using external retrocardiac-gate...

347Objectives: Hypoxic cells are more resistant than normoxic cells to radiation treatment, so the identification of hypoxic regions within the tumor is necessary to predict or improve radiotherapeutic outcome. Preclinical studies in image-guided radiotherapy with electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) pO2 images have shown that targeting hypoxic regions of tumors, defined as
