Pregnancy outcomes in correlation with placental histopathology in subsequent pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia

Included were only cases with recurrent preeclampsia in two consecutive pregnancies Neonatal outcomes and placental histopathology were compared between the first preeclampsia delivery (first preeclampsia group) and the subsequent preeclampsia delivery (subsequent preeclampsia group), thus each subject served as her own control in two consecutive pregnancies. Placental lesions were classified according to the current “Amsterdam” criteria. Adverse neonatal outcome was defined as ≥1 early neonatal complication.ResultsIncluded in the study a total of 83 cases with recurrent preeclampsia. ConclusionBreech presentation in preterm labor is associated with obstetric risk factors compared to cephalic presentation. These risks decrease linearly with the gestational age. In moderate to late preterm delivery, breech presentation is a high-risk state and some obstetric risk factors are yet visible in early preterm delivery. Breech presentation in extremely preterm deliveries has, with the exception of preterm premature rupture of membranes, similar clinical risk profiles as in cephalic presentation.

Conclusion: Chinese women had a substantially lower risk of venous thromboembolism during pregnancy and the postpartum period compared to that of Caucasians. The occurrence of pregnancy-related venous thromboembolism was largely confined to the early pregnancy period, probably related to the adoption of thromboprophylaxis, a lower rate of Cesarean section, and early mobilization.
