Examining Different Industry Classification Methods for Business R & D

The Business R&D and Innovation Survey ( BRDIS ) estimates that companies performed $ 356 billion of research and development in the United States in 2015. This InfoBrief examines the differences in industry patterns of R&D that arise from using various methods for classifying companies to industries. This InfoBrief also highlights the ways BRDIS data can be used to describe industry patterns of business R&D in the United States.
