LEA 10. Experimental Model to Assess the Safety of Energy Sealing Devices in Saphenous Vein Graft in Bypass Surgery

Energy sealing devices achieve hemostasis of the blood vessels through sequential coagulation and transection. Although use has been widely spread in multiple surgical fields, safety for sealing collaterals of autologous grafts during bypass surgery is unknown. We compare the efficacy of the main sealing devices used, Electrothermal Bipolar Tissue Sealing System (EB; LigaSure, Valleylab Inc, Boulder, Colo) and Harmonic scalpel (HS; Ethicon, Somerville, NJ), vs conventional vessel ligation of saphenous vein collaterals for revascularization surgery.

Conclusion: Our results provide neurophysiological evidence for altered large-scale brain network dynamics in BD patients and suggest the increased presence of A microstate to be an electrophysiological trait characteristic of BD.

RehmeAbstractMeyer-Weigert-Rule predicts the draining pattern of duplex ureters in bipolar renal duplications. The upper pole is normally seen as ectopic and therefore dysplastic due to obstruction, whereas the lower pole is related to vesicoureteral reflux. In our case, this rule is violated with uncrossed ureter duplex and a dysplastic lower pole in connection with obstruction.

The phrase “sacred masculine” can evoke images of patriarchal religiosity.  But it has a different meaning for today’s guest. For Miguel Dean, the sacred masculine is an ideal, embodied by a man who accepts all of his emotions, understands the connectedness of humanity, and is devoted to helping others. Join us as Miguel explains how the sacred masculine is increasingly being recognized as a new model of masculinity to replace the old ideas of what it meant to be a man. This new man embraces all of his humanity and recognizes that part of this is the courage to feel, express and honor the full spect...

ConclusionsPatients who experienced a different level of participation in decision-making than desired more frequently had compulsory admissions. We propose to assess participation preferences each time a relevant treatment decision is about to be made and tailor care accordingly. We identified several factors leading to compulsory admissions that can be modified to prevent further coercive measures.

In this paper, we developed a screen printed bipolar electrode (BPE) for sensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) detection of aflatoxin B1 in agricultural products. The sensor uses a cathode of closed BPE as a functional sensing interface and ...

Gotlib, Brian KnutsonAbstractAlthough behavioral sensitivity to reward predicts the onset and course of mania in bipolar disorder, the evidence for neural abnormalities in reward processing in bipolar disorder is mixed. To probe neural responsiveness to anticipated and received rewards in the context of bipolar disorder, we scanned individuals with remitted bipolar I disorder (n = 24) and well-matched controls (n = 24; matched for age and gender) using Functional Magnetic Resonance Imag...
