Comparison of Linear and Nonlinear HRV Dynamics Across Exercise Intensities After Menopause.

Comparison of Linear and Nonlinear HRV Dynamics Across Exercise Intensities After Menopause. J Aging Phys Act. 2019 Oct 17;:1-6 Authors: Orri JC, Hughes EM, Mistry DG, Scala A Abstract The authors compared the linear and nonlinear heart rate variability dynamics from rest through maximal exercise in postmenopausal women who trained at either moderate or high intensities. The outcome variables included the RR triangular index, TINN, SD1, SD2, SD1/SD2, DFA α1, DFA α2, and α1/α2. Maximal exercise reduced SD1, SD2, DFA α1, DFA α2, α1/α2, RRTri, and TINN in both groups and increased SD1/SD2 (p

In conclusion, leanness and exercise do not necessarily protect from OVX-induced weight gain. Exercise prevented weight gain in obese rats, but loss of SPA was the greatest contributor to post-OVX weight gain. Thus, understanding the mechanisms resulting in reduction in SPA after ovarian hormone loss is critical in the prevention of menopause-associated metabolic dysfunction.

ConclusionIn general, POP-Q C-D was longer than the cervical length measured by MRI. Deep analysis found that when uterine prolapse is combined with larger anterior vaginal wall prolapse, the difference between ECL and MCL is greater; when uterine prolapse with larger posterior vaginal wall prolapse, the difference between ECL and MCL is smaller.

Apple continues to move deeper into healthcare - particularly in the field of medical research. The tech giant has announced three health studies its U.S. customers can now enroll in through a new research app. The studies include the Apple Women’s Health Study, the Apple Heart and Movement Study, and the Apple Hearing Study. Conducted in partnership with leading academic and research institutions, these multi-year longitudinal studies are available in the new Research app, which can be downloaded today from the App Store. The Cupertino, CA-based company said now participants can potentially groundbreaki...

ConclusionsPTH levels might be associated with bone material strength, although other factors might be contributory. In HypoPT, resistance to microfracture is decreased and may be associated with greater supplemental calcium doses and might increase with PTH replacement. It remains to be determined whether changes in bone remodeling and microarchitecture contribute to the effects of PTH on microfracture resistance.

Authors: Balta G, Dalla C, Kokras N Abstract Brain disorders and mental diseases, in particular, are common and considered as a top global health challenge for the twenty-first century. Interestingly, women suffer more frequently from mental disorders than men. Moreover, women may respond to psychotropic drugs differently than men, and, through their lifespan, they endure sex-orientated social stressors. In this chapter, we present how women may differ in the development and manifestation of mental health issues and how they differ from men in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. We discuss issues in clinical tri...

ConclusionsA history of MST is common among older women veterans and associated with a range of medical and mental health diagnoses. These findings call attention to the need for additional research in this understudied population, and the importance of trauma-informed care approaches for women across the lifespan.
