Vaccination of healthcare personnel in Europe: Update to current policies.

In conclusion, European countries now have more comprehensive national vaccination programs for HCP, however there are still gaps. Given the recent large outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases in Europe and the occupational risk for HCP, vaccination policies need to be expanded and strengthened in several European countries. Overall, vaccination policies for HCP in Europe should be periodically re-evaluated in order to provide optimal protection against vaccine-preventable diseases and infection control within healthcare facilities for HCP and patients. Fu, Ping Yin, Liurong Fang, Guiqing PengAbstractEmerging coronaviruses (CoVs) primarily cause severe gastroenteric or respiratory diseases in humans and animals, and no approved therapeutics are currently available. Here, A9, a receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (RTKI) of the tyrphostin class, is identified as a robust inhibitor of transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) infection in cell-based assays. Moreover, A9 exhibited potent ...

Streptococcosis has greatly limited the healthy development of tilapia aquaculture in recent times. The development of novel effective vaccines is important for the prevention and control of streptococcosis in fish. We previously constructed a non-encapsulated S. agalactiae strain △cps by the in-frame deletion method. Here,...

In this study, an NDV isolate APMV-1/Chicken/China (SC)/PT3/2016 (hereafter referred as PT3) was identified as a class Ⅰ NDV and a lentogenic strain. The antigenic relationship between PT3 and 3 other NDV strains, including vaccine strain LaSota and 2 prevalent genotype Ⅶd and Ⅵb strains were analyzed. The protective efficacy of PT3 and LaSota against challenge with genotype Ⅶd and Ⅵb strains were assessed. The antigenic analysis result showed that 4 strains belong to the single serotype and the PT3 antiserum exhibited the highest HI titer against 3 other NDV strains. The results of protective efficacy showed tha...

Authors: Van Slambrouck J, Vlasselaers J, Devos B Abstract Peritoneal tuberculosis is a rare extrapulmonary manifestation of tuberculosis. Considering the diagnosis of peritoneal tuberculosis in a low prevalence setting can be vital for the further clinical management in selected patients. In a young male with migration background, presenting with generalised abdominal pain, computed tomography revealed ascites, omental and peritoneal thickening and enlarged mesentery lymph nodes. Computed tomography also revealed a distal ureteral calculus at the right vesico-ureteral junction. Diagnostic laparoscopy showed a nodul...
