Potential of radiolabelled PSMA PET/CT or PET/MRI diagnostic procedures in gliomas/glioblastomas.

CONCLUSION: Radiolabelled PSMA imaging seems to be useful in analyzing glioma/glioblastoma. Further studies enrolling a wider population are needed to clarify the real clinical and diagnostic role of radiolabelled PSMA in this setting and its possible position in the diagnostic flow-chart. In this study, we found that miR-452 was highly expressed in both tumor tissue and gastric cancer cells, and could directly target the cancer suppressor gene EPB41L3 3′-UTR. miR-452 significantly promoted the proliferation, migration and the S-phase arrest of gastric cancer cells, but EPB41L3 as a downstream target gene of miR-452 reversed such promoting effect. While down-regulation of miR-452 expression significantly inhibited the malignant biological behavior of gastric cancer cells, but this inhibitory effect was reversed by EPB41L3 siRNA. In addition, miR-452 in the gastric cancer xenograft model in nude mice co...

Al-Dayel F, Al-Kuraya KS Abstract Sanger Sequencing and immunohistochemistry was employed to investigate the TERT promoter mutations and TERT protein expression with their association to clinicopathological characteristics in over 2200 samples of Middle Eastern origin from 13 different types of cancers. The TERT promoter mutations were most frequently present in bladder cancer (68.6%), followed by central nervous system tumors (28.7%), thyroid cancer (15.4%), prostate cancer (9.3%), endometrial carcinoma (3.7%), rhabdomyosarcoma (1.4%), colorectal cancer (1%), epithelial ovarian carcinoma (0.7%) and breast cancer ...

Publication date: Available online 13 October 2019Source: Seminars in Cancer BiologyAuthor(s): Vikram Shaw, Suyash Srivastava, Sanjay K. SrivastavaAbstractThe recent development of high throughput compound screening has allowed drug repurposing to emerge as an effective avenue for discovering novel treatments for cancer. FDA-approved antipsychotic drugs fluspirilene, penfluridol, and pimozide are clinically used for the treatment of psychotic disorders, primarily schizophrenia. These compounds, belong to diphenylbutylpiperidine class of antipsychotic drugs, are the potent inhibitors of dopamine D2 receptor and calcium chan...

Abstract13N-Ammonia (13N-NH3) is widely used positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) radiotracer for the measurement of myocardial blood perfusion; the possible role of13N-NH3 PET or PET/CT in oncological disease is not yet clear. Aim of this review is to evaluate the diagnostic performances of13N-NH3 PET in this field. A comprehensive computer literature search of the PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Embase databases was conducted including articles up to June 2019. Eighteen articles were finally included in the review. From the analyses of the selected studies, the following main findings could be drawn: (1)...

Abstract Integrin targeting has been shown to be an effective approach for anticancer therapy. We engineered a recombinant disintegrin, vicrostatin (VCN), that binds with high affinity and specificity to the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) class of integrins, including αvβ3, αvβ5, and α5β1, involved in tumor invasion and metastasis. We used three different delivery modalities to examine anticancer activity of VCN in mouse models of human ovarian cancer, glioma, and prostate cancer. A female mouse model was used to examine the treatment of established ovarian cancer (OC) using VCN delivered intra...

Conclusions1. Glioblastoma, anaplastic glioma and neuroblastoma cell lines have a high sensitivity to Cabazitaxel in vitro. 2. Cell lines with MGMT methylation and MMR expression (A172 and LN 229) are the most sensitive. Of them, line A172 presents a p53 wild type, and therefore, a greater sensitivity to Cabazitaxel. 3. The expression of CD133 correlates inversely with the values of IC50 to Cabazitaxel, and may also be a predictor of response.Legal entity responsible for the studyUGR.FundingHas not received any funding.DisclosureAll authors have declared no conflicts of interest.

Studies have identified that the polymorphism rs10069690 of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) is associated with cancer risk, but the results remain inconclusive. We performed a meta ‐analysis of 45 published studies including 329,035 cases and 730,940 controls. This meta‐analysis suggested that the TERT rs10069690 polymorphism may be a risk factor for cancer, especially breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and lung cancer. Further functional studies are warranted to reveal the ro le of the polymorphism in carcinogenesis. AbstractBackgroundStudies have identified that the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) gene po...

Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of 4-Aryl-5,7-dihydro-6H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6-one Derivatives as a PI3Kα Inhibitor. Biol Pharm Bull. 2019;42(6):1013-1018 Authors: Hu S, Zhao Z, Ni Y, Xin H, Yan H, Song X Abstract A novel series of 4-aryl-5,7-dihydro-6H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6-one derivatives were designed as a phosphoinositide 3-kinase α (PI3Kα) inhibitor by scaffold hopping. The target compounds, characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and high resolution (HR)-MS, were synthesized from diethyl malonate and ethyl chloroacetate by nucleophilic substitution, ring-closure, c...
