An investigation of asymmetric reduction in dopamine transporter density in patients with Parkinson’s disease

We reported dopamine transporter evaluation with distance-weighted histogram (DWH). We hypothesized that the SBR calculated using DWH (DWH-SBR) may also be useful to evaluate the laterality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the laterality of the SBR versus the asymmetry of motor symptoms, and versus visual evaluation. In total, 100 adult patients with Parkinson’s disease were enrolled in our study. The symptom-affected side, the visual-affected side, and the lower SBR side were evaluated. The evaluation was performed in a blinded manner. Correlations between the Hoehn and Yahr scale (HY scale) and both the SBRs were also investigated. Concordance of lower DWH-SBR side for visual-affected side was significantly higher (99.0%) than it of lower S-SBR side (86.0%, P

ConclusionsWe have developed a HYNIC-modified Tz derivative, and the HYNIC-PEG11-Tz was labeled with Tc-99m with a high specific activity and radiochemical purity. [99mTc]HYNIC-PEG11-Tz reacted rapidly and almost completely towards atezolizumab-TCOin vitro with the 1:1 Tz-to-mAb reaction. SPECT imaging using the pretargeted strategy (atezolizumab-TCO/[99mTc]HYNIC-PEG11-Tz) demonstrated high-contrast images for high PD-L1 expression H1975 tumor and a low background accumulation of the probe. The pretargeted imaging strategy is a powerful tool for evaluating PD-L1 expression in xenograft mice tumor models and a potential can...

Conclusions The results of our study indicate that 99mTc-MIBI SPECT/CT is more accurate than ultrasound for the preoperative identification of single PTAs in patients with pHPT who are candidates for MIP.

Aim To evaluate 68Ga-DOTANOC positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and 131I-meta-iodobenzylguanidine single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (131I-MIBG SPECT/CT) in patients with paragangliomas, including uncommon primaries. Methods Ninety patients were prospectively enrolled, and both scans were done within 2 weeks of each other. Lesions were grouped as Head/neck, abdominal, uncommon primary paraganglioma, and metastatic lesions. In most histopathology was used as reference standard. Results PET/CT had sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predicti...

Conclusion [18F]FDG PET may be useful as a non-invasive diagnostic modality in differentiating the two posterior cortical dementias, despite significant overlap. Primary visual cortical hypometabolism can serve as an independent diagnostic marker for DLB, even in the absence of TRODAT imaging.

eacute; Chandan Guha Radiation therapy (RT) has traditionally not been widely used in the management of hepatic malignancies for fear of toxicity in the form of radiation-induced liver disease (RILD). Pre-clinical hepatic irradiation models can provide clinicians with better understanding of the radiation tolerance of the liver, which in turn may lead to the development of more effective cancer treatments. Previous models of hepatic irradiation are limited by either invasive laparotomy procedures, or the need to irradiate the whole or large parts of the liver using external skin markers. In the setting of modern-day ...

In this study, we evaluated the correlation between pre-treatment plasma fibrinogen and the burden of bone metastasis in newly diagnosed PCa patients. METHODS: A single-center retrospective analysis, focusing on prostate biopsies of newly diagnosed PCa patients, was performed. A total of 261 patients were enrolled in this study in a 4-year period. All subjects were submitted to single-photon emission computerized tomography-computed tomography to confirm the status of bone metastasis and, if present, the number of metastatic lesions would then be calculated. Clinical information such as age, prostate-specific antigen ...

This study aimed to evaluate the usefulness of [99mTc]sestamibi ([99mTc]MIBI) single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging for the identification of dystonic muscles in primary cervical dystonia (PCD) patients who underwent botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT-A) therapy.ProceduresThirty-six patients with PCD and 10 healthy subjects (control group) who underwent [99mTc]MIBI SPECT/CT were enrolled. The image characteristics of dystonic muscles and normal muscles were evaluated. Muscle/background ratio (MBR) of six representative muscles was calculated for dystonic muscles in PCD gro...

ConclusionsWe suggest SPECT/CT as the primary modality of choice for the assessment of the ratio of diseased lung area. Both perfusion scan and SPECT/CT can be used for the prediction of postoperative lung function.

Abstract Careful study of the clinical outcomes of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) surgery has greatly advanced our knowledge of the neuroanatomy of human memory. After early cases resulted in profound amnesia, the critical role of the hippocampus and associated medial temporal lobe (MTL) structures to declarative memory became evident. Surgical approaches quickly changed to become unilateral and later, to be more precise, potentially reducing cognitive morbidity. Neuropsychological studies following unilateral temporal lobe resection (TLR) have challenged early models, which simplified the lateralization of verbal a...
