Evaluating the effectiveness of an educative workshop for pregnant women using pre and post intervention surveys. Cad Saude Publica. 2019;35(10):e00155018 Authors: Nunes RD, Puel AG, Gomes N, Traebert J Abstract This paper will report the findings of an education intervention performed by a workshop aimed to provide pregnant women with knowledge about pregnancy, delivery, breastfeeding and newborn care. A cross-sectional study, using a pre and post-intervention research design, was performed with 105 pregnant women from an obstetric service for a two-year period. Time points (pre and post) were compared using either Student t test and ANOVA. Significance was set at p ≤ 0.05. After the intervention all items increased their level from the three stations: antenatal care (20.4%), labor and delivery (36.8%) and postnatal and breastfeeding (32.1%). The total score of the surveys also increased 31.7% when comparing the pre and post applications (p

ConclusionWithin the limitations of the study, GBR with or without autogenous block graft may be an effective approach in augmenting horizontally deficient mandibular or maxillary ridges, before the placement of dental implants. However, more complications may be seen with the use of an autogenous block graft related to the donor sites.

Conclusion: Chinese women had a substantially lower risk of venous thromboembolism during pregnancy and the postpartum period compared to that of Caucasians. The occurrence of pregnancy-related venous thromboembolism was largely confined to the early pregnancy period, probably related to the adoption of thromboprophylaxis, a lower rate of Cesarean section, and early mobilization. CONCLUSIONS: Because of its pleiotropic roles in several reproductive events and its association with some life-threatening pathological conditions of pregnancy, bikunin may represent a non-invasive marker for improving follow-up and early diagnosis. Studies showing its usefulness as a drug for reducing the risk of preterm delivery and improving neonatal outcomes have yielded interesting results that deserve to be investigated through further research. A growing body of research suggests that using midwife or doula support throughout pregnancy and during childbirth can bring health benefits, but not many women have access due to differing state laws in how midwives are recognized and what insurance can cover.

While recreational marijuana is legal in 11 states as of November 2019, more states gravitating toward legalizing the recreational use of the substance, and 33 states allowing medical marijuana, there’s apparently no stopping this trend. Cannabis, in the form of marijuana, hemp, and cannabidiol (CBD)  is being used for pain relief, to alleviate stress, cope with anxiety, and a number of other mental health disorders and addictions. Yet, there’s a dearth of clinical studies that have been conducted on the overall effects on a user’s health. Clearly, as Crain’s Detroit Business points out, more ...

Authors: Kuck KH, Phan HL, Tilz RR Abstract The new guidelines for the management of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) were published by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in September 2019. The key message of the guidelines is that catheter ablation should be offered as a first line treatment to most patients during a comprehensive discussion of the risks and advantages. This recommendation recognizes that catheter ablation has nowadays become a widely established, effective and safe treatment method with a very low complication rate, which has revolutionized the treatment of SVT due to the substa...
