Publication date: 25 January 2020Source: Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, Volume 81Author(s): Hoon Hyun, Youngbum Yoo, So Yeon Kim, Hyun Sun Ko, Heung Jae Chun, Dae Hyeok YangAbstractOptimization of ligand density on polymeric nanoparticles (PNPs) is critical for targeting solid tumors. Here, we prepared fluorescent cyanine 5.5 dye and cyclo(arginine–glycine–aspartic acid–phenylalanine–lysine) ligand-modified polyethylene glycol-poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (Cy 5.5-cRGDfK-PEG-PLGA) NPs with different ligand concentrations and investigated their cancer-targeting abilities in vitro an...

egi A Abstract BACKGROUND: Breast cancer survivors can experience psychological distress, such as anxiety and depression, long after treatment has ended, and the development of such negative affective states has been related to the coping strategy used. OBJECTIVES: This pilot study aims to determine whether different coping strategies are associated with differences in psychological distress, cortisol, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a) levels in breast cancer survivors. METHODS: 54 breast cancer survivors completed the Stress Coping Questionnaire and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and pr...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis can be traumatic and anxiety-producing. The way the diagnosis is disclosed to patients can affect their experience. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article is to determine patient preferences for being informed of a breast cancer diagnosis and the breast nurse navigator (BNN) role during the diagnostic experience. METHODS: A survey was mailed to 517 patients with breast cancer. Summary statistics were performed on 199 completed surveys. FINDINGS: Patients preferred to hear their diagnosis in person. BNNs were more likely to provide the right amoun...

Authors: Hwong A, Wang K, Bent S, Mangurian C Abstract OBJECTIVE: Women with schizophrenia appear to receive breast cancer diagnoses at later stages of the disease compared with the general population. To study this disparity, this report reviewed and quantified the differences in rates of mammography screening for women with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders compared with the general population. METHODS: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and PsycINFO databases. Each database was searched from inception to September 14, 2018. The search strategy included s...

This study aimed to determine the trend in the attendance for mammography screening during 2006–2014 and to identify the factors that are predictive for participation in it. The study sample consisted of 1941 women aged 50–64 years, who participated in five cross-sectional biennial postal surveys of Lithuanian Health Behavior Monitoring, carried out in independent national random samples. The attendance for screening was identified if women reported having had a mammogram within the last two years. The proportion of women attending the screening was continuously increasing from 20.0% in 2006 up to 65.8%...

In this study, we summarized how lncRNA has dual effects in BC metastasis by regulating invasion, migration, and distant metastasis of BC cells. We also emphasize that lncRNA has crucial regulatory effects in the stemness and angiogenesis of BC. Clinically, some lncRNAs can regulate chemotherapy sensitivity in BC patients and may function as novel biomarkers to diagnose or predict prognosis for BC patients. The exact impact on clinical relevance deserves further study. This review can be an approach to understanding the dual effects of lncRNAs in BC, thereby linking lncRNAs to quasi-personalized treatment in the future.
