AbstractSleep health is postulated as a multi-dimensional construct comprised of sleepiness/alertness, timing, duration, efficiency, and satisfaction. New questionnaires for its measurement have been proposed. We performed secondary data analyses and analyzed responses on a widely used, well-established sleep questionnaire to determine whether the construct might be detectable with an existing questionnaire. Healthy men (n = 7604) aged 55–75 completed the six-item Medical Outcomes Study Sleep Questionnaire (MOSSQ) at baseline in a large, randomized clinical trial [the Reduction by Dutasteride of Prostat...

AbstractFamily history of breast and related cancers can indicate increased breast cancer (BC) risk. In national familial breast cancer (FBC) guidelines, the risk is stratified to guide referral decisions. We aimed to identify characteristics associated with the recommendation for referral in a large cohort of women undergoing FBC risk assessment in a recent primary care study. Demographic, family history, psychological and behavioural factors were collected with family history questionnaires, psychological questionnaires and manual data extraction from general practice electronic health records. Participants were women ag...

CONCLUSIONS: Two regulatory axes of BLACAT1-EZH2-MAPK and BLACAT1-HDAC1-STAT3 were identified to be associated with the progression of prostate cancer. Both chidamide and 5-azacytidine represent promising therapeutic options in prostate cancer treatment. PMID: 31957820 [PubMed - in process]

Nine years earlier, the patient had been diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and undergone rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin hydrochloride, oncovin, prednisone (R-CHOP) therapy. This patient previously had had a hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection before chemotherapy. After the chemotherapy, he was administered an LHRH agonist for prostate can...

Abstract A series of nine new 2,3-disubstituted 4(3H)-quinazolin-4-one derivatives was furnished starting from the 2-propyl-4(3H)-quinazo-line-4-one (2). The reinvestigation of the key starting quinazolinone 2 was performed under microwave irradiation (MW) and solvent-free conditions. Combination of MW and phase-transfer catalysis using tetrabutylammonium benzoate (TBAB) as a novel neutral ionic catalyst was used for carrying out N-alkylation and condensation reactions of compound 2 as a simple, efficient and eco-friendly technique. The structure of the synthesized compounds was elucidated using different spectral...

Abstract The incidence of mortality of prostate cancer (PCa) has been an uptrend in recent years. Our previous study showed that the sex-determining region Y-box 7 (SOX7) was low-expressed and served as a tumor suppressor in PCa cells. Here, we describe the effects of polyphyllin D (PD) on proliferation and cell cycle modifications of PCa cells, and whether SOX7 participates in this process. PC-3 cells were cultured in complete medium containing PD for 12, 24, and 48 h. MTT assay was used to investigate the cytotoxic effects of PD. Cell cycle progression was analyzed using propidium iodide (PI) staining, and prote...

Recent studies assessing the patterns of failure following locoregional definitive therapy suggest that recurrences do happen in the adjacent most proximal drainage sites, not infrequently occurring within the common iliac and para-aortic regions. This pattern of recurrence and identification at initial presentation is being increasingly recognised using novel imaging techniques and there is limited evidence on how to manage these patients. We are awaiting definitive evidence regarding the clinical benefit of whole pelvic radiotherapy, and currently there is no consensus as to the optimal superior border.
