Scanning electron microscopy study of different one-piece foldable acrylic intraocular lenses after injection through microincisional cataract surgery cartridges

ConclusionsAll lenses showed excellent surface quality. After folding and injection process some superficial scratches and tears of the IOL optic were detected in some models. Further studies are needed to assess the possible effects of those superficial damages on the optical quality of the IOLs.

Conclusion: The improvement of visual acuity was discovered following the removal of the intraocular silicone oil. Although the duration of the intraocular silicone oil endotamponade had no effect on the rate of retinal attachment, a longer duration of silicone oil endotamponade can lead to the development of complications, such as cataract, emulsified oil in the anterior chamber and glaucoma, suggesting that the earlier removal of oil should be performed. The ICL is obviously rotating. The most important information, the anatomy behind the iris, regarding ICL (haptic and footplate) positioning and ICL sizing, is needed. Very high frequency digital ultrasound scanning of the posterior chamber and delineation of the anatomical markers is now essential. Otherwise, the clinician continues to go in blindly each time, risking endothelial cell loss and cataract formation in a young patient. Rotating is possible, but publications have shown that the largest sulcus diameter can be either in the vertical or the horizontal axis.

Abstract Films have been prepared from the natural antioxidant gallic acid and a proteinaceous source, the discarded emulsion obtained after cataract surgery referred to as the cataractous eye protein isolate (CEPI).
