ConclusionsClinicians should be aware to early recognize acute and subacute respiratory adverse events for a promptly management. In these patients re-treatment is challenging.

Conclusions Surgical repair with muscle flap coverage, with or without ligation of profunda femoris artery, does not affect prognosis. An alternative method for identifying healthy segments of femoral artery may be frozen section and examination of the artery to decrease the risk of recurrence at the site of anastomosis.RESUMO Contexto A doen ça de Behçet (DB) é uma enfermidade autoimune que envolve múltiplos sistemas. A manifestação arterial mais comum em pacientes com DB é o pseudoaneurisma, que tem uma frequência mais alta do que a formação de aneurism...

SomersAbstractAutoimmune diseases (AID) are more prevalent in women than men, and pregnancy-related factors such as hormonal modulation and fetal microchimerism may influence future risk of maternal AID. For women with AID, optimizing reproductive health requires a continuum of multidisciplinary care that initiates well before the desire for pregnancy is articulated. Family planning is essential so that pregnancy can be timed when disease is stable and to allow for appropriate medic...

Conclusion: Our data clearly show a decreased ACKR2 mRNA expression on PBMCs and increased plasma IL-33 levels of patients with MS. There was no significant relationship between ACKR2 and other cytokine levels. Within our knowledge, this is the first study that evaluates the ACKR2 mRNA expression in the PBMCs of MS patients.

ConclusionsImpaired performance on NPTs correlated with worse physical disability-related PROMs and MRI disease severity, but the strongest cross-sectional explanatory variables for each NPT component varied. This study supports the use of comprehensive, objective quantification of MS status in clinical and research settings. Future longitudinal analyses can determine predictors of treatment response and disability worsening.

Discussion Facial nerve palsy has been known for centuries, but in 1821 unilateral facial nerve paralysis was described by Sir Charles Bell. Bell’s palsy (BP) is a unilateral, acute facial paralysis that is clinically diagnosed after other etiologies have been excluded by appropriate history, physical examination and/or laboratory testing or imaging. Symptoms include abnormal movement of facial nerve. It can be associated with changes in facial sensation, hearing, taste or excessive tearing. The right and left sides are equally affected but bilateral BP is rare (0.3%). Paralysis can be complete or incomplete at prese...

Modern medicine has no cure for autoimmune diseases — and, sadly, most doctors don’t understand them. I’m talking about disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, lupus, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis (MS) and more. In all, there are about 80 autoimmune diseases affecting organs throughout the body. They occur when your own immune system becomes overactive and attacks your body instead of diseases and foreign invaders. The standard mainstream treatment for most autoimmune disorders relies on Big Pharma drugs that cover up symptoms or suppress your immun...

Conclusions:New evidence emerging on NMOSD disorders makes it easier to discriminate them from multiple sclerosis or other autoimmune cases, but as the above case shows there may be a lot of overlapping between the two, which warrants further research so as to attain more effective management.Disclosure: Dr. Karageorgiou has nothing to disclose. Conclusion A growing number of today’s children suffer from vaccine damage. Most individuals do not make the connection between health problems and vaccines. When asked about the cause of autoimmune disorders, asthma, allergies, diabetes, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, autism, and other common childhood diseases and illness, the majority of health care providers advise patients that the causes are unknown. Doctors, including most integrative physicians, fail to make the connection to vaccines. It takes one moment to permanently damage the health of an adult or child, but t...

Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) progression to mortality may not be solely determined by the underlying autoimmune process. We conducted a study in a large cohort of MS patients with the aim of describing characteristics of MS patients and identification of predictors for all-cause mortality in this patient group. We performed a retrospective analysis of primary care data from the UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink. Incident MS cases diagnosed between 1993 and 2006 were identified and validated using electronic and original medical records. Patients were followed to identify deaths; hazard ratios (HRs) and 95...
