In this study, we confirmed the inhibition of proliferation by CGA in ESCC cells, as well as the reduction of ESCC xenograft volume by CGA in vivo. Esophageal carcinoma (EC) is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide, of which, 90% are esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) [1]. The incidence of ESCC in China accounts for more than 70% of the world and is characterized by its remarkable geographic distribution and high-risk areas especially in Henan province [2]. Despite the recent advances in treatment, the benefit of all kinds of treatments is not satisfactory and the prognosis of patients with ESCC is still poor with the 5-year overall survival rate ranging from 20% to 30% [3].
