This study compares the effect of Helicobacter (H.) pylori and Lactobacillus (L.) acidophilus on the cytokine profile of PBMCs of 5 men with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and 5 men with normal/insignificant angiography, CT-Scan and ultrasonography results in the single-culture and in the co-culture with HUVECs. IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IL-13, IL-17A, IL-17 F, IL-21, IL-22, IFN-γ and TNF-α were measured in culture supernatants using a commercial fluorescent-labeled-bead assay. In general, CagA+ H. pylori-extract induced higher production of IFN-γ, IL-13 and IL-21 by PBMCs. Treatment of ...

Authors: Fan D, Yang S, Han Y, Zhang R, Yang L Abstract MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are widely known as critical regulators in isoflurane-induced neurotoxicity during the development of brain. Moreover, isoflurane could aggravate cognitive impairment in diabetic rats. The present study was designed to investigate the role and mechanism of miR-140-5p on isoflurane-induced neurotoxicity in diabetic rats. Firstly, a diabetic rat model was established by injection of streptozotocin (STZ) and identified by Morris water maze test. The result indicated that isoflurane treatment exacerbated STZ-induced cognitive impairment, as demo...

It has become a major risk factor of human diseases, including diabetes, cancers, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative diseases. Silencing information regulator 2 related enzyme 1(sirtuin1, SIRT1) is an NAD+-dependent deacetylase, which has been reported to be involved in the regulation of cellular senescence and aging. The expression of SIRT1...

Protocols have been developed for mice and Mongolian gerbils. This technical note proposes a detailed and optimised immunofluorescence protocol in the Mongolian gerbil comprising significant quantitative and qualitative improvements. This protocol sequentially co...

ConclusionFB is commonly encountered in older women with the increased prevalence. FB had a different clinical presentation, radiological findings, and prognosis than CRS. Further studies are needed to understand the pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying the development of FB.

We report a case of a young male with no prior genitourinary history who presents to an emergency department with sudden onset gross hematuria, clot retention, and right-sided flank pain. On evaluation, he was found to have a renal artery aneurysm bleeding into his collecting system and underwent renal artery embolization and rapid resolution of his hematuria. Renal vascular pathology should be considered in the differential diagnosis and timely diagnosis of this condition is imperative as surgical interventions have proven to be life-saving. CONCLUSION: The use of RGP prior to ureteral stent placement for an obstructing ureteral stone with concomitant UTI was not associated with unfavorable clinical outcomes in our retrospective series. While these findings support the safety of RGP in this setting, prospective trials are warranted. PMID: 32065871 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: BTX-A treatment using either a trigone-sparing or trigone-including injection template resulted in significant, but not location-dependent, improvement in IC/BPS symptom scores at 30 and 90 day points post-procedure with no significant difference in post-treatment complication profiles.
