The Conundrum of Popliteal Vein Repair in Combined Arterial and Venous Injury Revisited

We enthusiastically read the “Analysis of Limb Outcomes by Management of Concomitant Vein Injury in Military Popliteal Artery Trauma” by Jordan L. Guice, et al. recently published in your journal. The comparative analysis of 29 limbs with concomitant popliteal vein injury repair and 27 limbs managed with popliteal vein inju ry ligation recorded secondary amputations as 45% in the repair group and 41% in the ligation group. These rates were shown to not be statistically significant.1
