This study describes two drinking water outbreaks in Finland in 2016 (outbreak I) and 2018 (outbreak II). Both outbreaks caused approximately 450 illness cases and were due to drinking water pipe breakage and subsequent wastewater intrusion into the distribution system. In this study, the vp1 gene of Enterovirus 71 (EV71) and Coxsackievirus B3 (CB3) was inserted into the vector pET22b (+) to form the respective expression plasmids pEVP1 or pCVP1, and then transformed into Escherichia coli strain BL21 (DE3). Abstract In Japan, from 2000 to 2018, for Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Salmonella food poisonings, the annual number of the outbreaks and that of the patients decreased exponentially though the size of the individual outbreaks (the number of patients per outbreak) tended to become larger.
