Efficacy and safety of combination of magnesium sulfate, phentolamine and nifedipine in treatment of patients with hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy.

Efficacy and safety of combination of magnesium sulfate, phentolamine and nifedipine in treatment of patients with hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy. Exp Ther Med. 2019 Nov;18(5):3341-3346 Authors: Zhang J, Li J Abstract Efficacy and safety of the combination of magnesium sulfate, phentolamine and nifedipine in the treatment of patients with hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy (HDCP) and its effect on hemodynamics and urinary protein level were investigated. One hundred and six patients with HDCP diagnosed at the Affiliated Hospital of Beihua University from February 5, 2016 to May 9, 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into the magnesium sulfate group and the combination group, according to the therapeutic schemes. The efficacy 1 week later was observed. The general clinical data of the patients were recorded, and data were acquired with respect to hemodynamic indexes before and after treatment [changes of S/D ratio of umbilical artery flow, and cardiac index and total peripheral resistance (TPR)], the 24-h urinary protein level, clinical efficacy and safety [adverse drug reactions (ADR) and maternal and neonatal outcomes]. Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of S/D ratio of umbilical artery flow (P>0.05), while after treatment the S/D ratio was significantly lower than that before treatment in both groups (P0.05). TPR after treatment was signific...

The patient suffered from 11 failures in the assisted reproductive technique during 3 years. This case suggests that the combined treatment with acupuncture for regulating menstruation and promoting pregnancy and the periodic interventi...

Authors: Hubalewska-Dydejczyk A, Duntas L, Gilis-Januszewska A Abstract The management of pregnant women is a major concern of health care around the world. There is growing evidence regarding the influence of selenium (Se) on pregnancy and fetus outcomes. However, due to as yet insufficient evidence, lack of measurable markers to assess the effect of Se supplementation on the human metabolism, and Se's narrow therapeutic index, the majority of experts and the current guidelines published by several scientific societies do not recommend the use of Se in pregnancy and in women of childbearing age. Further research b...

Exposure to this compound during pregnancy and early childhood has been indicated as a risk factor for neurodevelopmental disorders. We evaluated the long-term effects of embryonic PM exposure in different stages of zebrafish development. Briefly, embryos (3 hpf) were exposed to sub-lethal c...

However, HbA1c is not recommended in several situations such as hemoglobinopathies, pregnancy or chronic kidney disease. The quantification of serum glycated albumin (GA) can serve as an alternative in these situations. In fact, serum albumin may undergo structural changes by glycation which impacts on its function and plays a major role in the genesis of diabetes mellitus complications. GA can be measured accurately either on...

CONCLUSIONS For LTPs with a Bishop's score of 0-3, dinoprostone was superior to oxytocin for IOL with a lower rate of cesarean delivery, but both agents had a similar outcome for women with a Bishop's score of 4-6. These findings may have implications for the choice of agent used in IOL when dinoprostone is unavailable. PMID: 31719513 [PubMed - in process]

In this study, we generated virus-like particles (VLPs) vaccine expressing T. gondii rhoptry ROP13 and investigated VLPs vaccine efficacy in mice. Mice immunized with ROP13 VLPs vaccine elicited significantly higher levels of T. gondii-specific IgG, IgG1, IgG2a, and IgA antibody responses following boost immunization and challenge infection, whereas antibody inductions were insignificant upon prime immunization. Differing immunization routes resulted in differing antibody induction, as intranasal immunization (IN) induced greater antibody responses than intramuscular immunization (IM) after boost and challenge infection. I...
