Role of Ischemia Modified Albumin Serum Levels as an Oxidative Stress Marker in Children with Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Comb Chem High Throughput Screen. 2019 Oct 08;: Authors: Yazıcı MU, Ayar G, Savas-Erdeve S, Azapağası E, Neşelioğlu S, Erel Ö, Çetinkaya S Abstract AIM AND OBJECTIVE: Ischemia modified albumin (IMA) is a biomarker that has been introduced recently for use in the evaluation of the oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to measure the ischemia modified albumin serum levels in pediatric patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) during acidosis and after the patient recovered from acidosis and to compare these with the control group. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Pediatric patients with Type I diabetes mellitus (T1DM), who were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit with the diabetic ketoacidosis were assigned as the study group and healthy children who were admitted to outpatient clinic and decided as healthy after clinic and laboratory evaluation were selected as the control group. IMA and adjusted IMA levels were evaluated in the blood samples from the control group and the study group when the first time admitted to the intensive care unit during the acidosis period (DKA before treatment, DKA-BT), and after recovered from acidosis (DKA after treatment, DKA-AT). RESULTS: A total of 24 pediatric patient with diabetic ketoacidosis and 30 healthy control child matching age and sex were included in the current st...

Long-term physiological hyperglycemia will aggravate the degree of non-enzymatic glycation (NEG) proteins. Because the abnormal changes of non-enzymatic process can cause a series of pathological variation, NEG proteins have attracted more and more attention. Mass spectrometry (MS) is an indispensable and powerful analytical tool for the qualitative and quan...

This study investigated the impact of including fetal growth parameters in the monitoring of pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Patients/Method 199 pregnant women with type 1 DM were included in a cohort study. The patient population was divided into two study cohorts. In the mBG cohort (n = 94; investigation period: 1994 - 2005) treatment was monitored using only maternal blood glucose (mBG) values; the aim was to achieve standard target glucose values (mean BG

Authors: Stojanovic D, Mitic V, Petrovic D, Stojanovic M, Ignjatovic A, Stefanovic N, Cvetkovic T, Bojanic V, Kocic G, Ilic MD Abstract Heart failure represents a growing health problem, with increasing morbidity and mortality globally. According to the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of heart failure, many biomarkers have been proposed for the timely diagnosis and prognostication of patients with heart failure, but other than natriuretic peptides, none of them has gained enough clinical significance. Renalase, a new protein derived from kidneys was demonstrated to metabolize catecholamines and to have a ca...

Conclusions: The higher prevalence of elevated FG and/or T2DM among Roma does not seem to be directly linked to their increased genetic load but rather to their environmental/cultural attributes. Interventions targeting T2DM prevention among Roma should focus on harmful environmental exposures related to their unhealthy lifestyle.
