Stage IV Breast Implant–associated Anaplastic Large-cell Lymphoma with Complete Pathologic Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy

We present the case of a 39-year-old woman who developed BIA-ALCL 13 years after augmentation with silicone, textured implants and had a complete pathologic response to neoadjuvant cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin (hydroxydaunomycin), vincristine (Oncovin), etoposide, prednisolone (CHOEP) at time of bilateral removal of implants and capsules. CHOEP is a long-standing regimen for treatment of peripheral ALCL and is a suggested regimen for treatment of BIA-ALCL. This case report is the first to demonstrate the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of BIA-ALCL and suggests a role for its use in advanced disease.
