A 78-year-old female diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome excess blasts-2 ten months ago was admitted to our hospital due to fever and a tender, 3-cm purple-red infiltrative erythema on her right lower leg. This single lesion evolved into multiple lesions with a sporotrichoid pattern over four days (Fig. 1a). Laboratory data revealed white blood cell count of 400/ μL. A computed tomography scan revealed a halo sign in the upper lobe of her right lung (Fig. 1b). This is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, two-arm study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, efficacy and PK of the combination therapy of SCY-078 plus voriconazole compared to those of voriconazole monotherapy in male and female subjects 18 years of age and older with a hematological malignancy (HM) or a myelodysplastic syndrome or aplastic anemia or hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and a probable or proven invasive pulmonary aspergillosis based on EORTCMSG criteria. Conclusions: These results demonstrate ISAV to be a safe and effective alternative for antifungal ppx in treatment-naïve pts with AML/MDS undergoing induction therapy with a variety of different regimens.
