Vaginal fluid transplants could cure women of severe bacterial vaginosis

Results of the trial in Israel showed the transplant successfully treated four of women with severe bacterial vaginosis, leaving them in remission for up to 21 months.

Conclusions The addition of MNBs to culture medium offers an innovative approach for the oxygenation of transplantable tissue, such as islet cells. This study demonstrated that MNBs filled with air provided the most optimal addition to the islet cell culture medium for improving islet cell survival amongst the treatment groups we tested. Given these findings, we hypothesize that MNBs may also improve the oxygenation and survival of a variety of other tissues, including fat grafts from lipoaspirate, chronic wounds, and solid organs.

Conclusions Our study found that propranolol inhibited proliferation, induced apoptosis and necrosis, and promoted differentiation of HemSCs. Propranolol may upregulate PPARγ via PI3K pathways, thereby accelerating lipogenesis and enhancing IH HemSC adipogenesis.

AbstractWith the introduction of the complement C5-inhibitor eculizumab, a new era was entered for patients with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS).
