20.3 group cbt resilience skills training for lgbtq youth

Existing studies demonstrate significantly increased rates of suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, and depression, in addition to high rates of risk behaviors and maladaptive coping among LGBTQ youth. Strength-based interventions that promote resilience and improve mental health in these higher-risk minority populations are quite limited. Investigators developed a manualized CBT-based resilience class (RC) to teach emotional regulation and adaptive coping to depressed LGBTQ teenagers aged 12 –17 years.
