23.1 utilization of 1-to-1 registered nurses: providers in a multi-site outpatient child psychiatry clinic

The demand for child and adolescent psychiatrist services far outweighs the supply of clinicians to meet it nationally. This dilemma requires systems and practices to adopt new approaches. Sharing the care responsibilities with a team can enable a physician or other advanced practice provider to manage more patients as effectively or more effectively in the same or less time. Research in practice transformation has identified numerous facilitators and barriers but has not yet distilled these into clear instructions to guide the way.
